It was recently announced that Mahiro Takasugi (高杉真宙) would appear in the upcoming film Blind Witness, starring Riho Yoshioka (吉岡里帆). Blind Witness is a remake of the 2011 film Blind.
Yoshioka portrays Natsume Hamanaka, who loses her eyesight on the night of her police academy graduation. Due to the accident, she cannot pursue being a police officer. Three years later, Hamanaka believes she heard a young girl being kidnapped, but the police take no action. With the help of a young man skateboarding near the incident, Takasugi, she decides to pursue the case using her other senses.
Takasugi commented that he didn’t have much experience in the genre, where there was a long-lasting sense of tension, but challenged himself. He also trained riding a skateboard for the film.
Directing the film is Junichi Mori, and he wrote the script with Kiyomi Fujii of the 2012 and 2014 Rurouni Kenshin films.
Takasugi previously portrayed Mitsuzane Kureshima/Kamen Rider Ryugen in Kamen Rider Gaim.
