Akira Shinomiya, who has previously had cameo roles in the Kamen Rider series, gave his opinion tokusatsu theme songs. This post was written from his perspective.
A tokusatsu theme song can leave a lasting impression in our hearts for a long time.
After Kamen Rider Ryuki, the songs in the series were handled by Avex. Songs were released that blended J-Pop and tokusatsu every year. With some major artists performing the songs, tokusatsu has evolved, and the number of tokusatsu fans has increased.
During the Kamen Rider Saber press conference, it was announced that the theme song would be performed by Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra. Meanwhile, the ending song “Kamen Rider Saber” was sung by Kinichi Motegi, the band’s drummer.
When I first heard about the song, I thought “I hope the hero’s name is included in the song lyrics” and hoped the song performed in minor chord wouldn’t leave a dark impression on my heart.
To put it simply, minor chords have a darker atmosphere, while major chords have a brighter atmosphere. But when I was younger, the tokusatsu shows I watched had songs in minor chords.
I wanted to research and verify if this was true (with research only on Super Sentai songs):

Most of the songs were in minor, compared to a smaller number in major chords:
- Minor – 20
- Minor to Major- 11
- Major – 12
What I noticed when making this list, was that in Super Sentai, there were no major chord songs up to Jetman. In the past 10 years, there are more major chord songs.
The last thing I want to say is that I like every song, regardless of it’s performed in major or minor chord.
This time I focused on Super Sentai songs, but I’d like to try listing Kamen Rider and Metal Hero songs as well.
