Actress Miki Mizuno (previously in Gamera 2) will appear in the upcoming NHK drama Super Speed Parahero Gandeen, which combines para-sports and tokusatsu. Mizuno will play Larou (ラルー), the last boss, a “Woman with Red Horns,” who controls monsters. She will speak in an alien language for the role.
Under Larou’s control is the monster Lagerut (ラゲルト), who she commands to attack people. She has come to Earth to find the one who escaped the massacre of the Earth’s twin star.
Chomo Hyakutyake has been announced to be in charge of make-up and costumes.
Also announced to appear in the drama include Takeshi Tsuruno (Shin Asuka/Ultraman Dyna), Karasu Hayashi (in Ultraman Z and Kamen Rider Zi-O), Nakamura Shuri, Sohkoh Wada (in Kamen Rider: Reiwa the First Generation), and Japanese athlete Masayuki Higuchi.
Kamen Rider ZI-O’s So Okuno and Tokusatsu GaGaGa’s Fuka Koshiba were previously announced to star in the series. Okuno portrays a 17-year-old high school student Morimiya Taishi, whose first name means “ambition,” with dreams of becoming a wheelchair track and field athlete. Fukai Kyo (Koshiba) is a former track and field athlete that now serves as his coach. Along with his father, who is an employee of a local factory, and his childhood friend, they are eager to begin training.
The first two episodes are written by Manabe Yukiko and the third is written by Hirotoshi Kobayashi (Ultraman Taiga). Directing is Takanori Tsujimoto (Ultraman Z). Manga artist and character designer Shinji Nishikawa, who worked on the Godzilla series, is working on the character design.
Super Speed Parahero Gandeen will air on June 26, July 3, and July 10 (Saturdays from 6:05PM to 6:43PM) for three episodes on NHK.
